Enjoy this informative lecture on sewing quilted coats. We will go in depth on the pattern, how to take measurements for the best fit, go over several different finishing methods, and talk about adding collars and hoods.

The lecture runs 40–45 minutes, with plenty of time afterward for guests to try on coats, ask questions, and confirm that perfect fit.

Quilted Coat Workshop - Live and In-Person

Now the real fun begins! In this 6 hour workshop we’ll finish quilted back panels, trace and cut pattern pieces, and dive into coat construction. I’ll do live demos on custom pattern adjustments, how to add pockets with binding, collars, and hoods, plus instruction for sewing the tricky parts with confidence.

Throughout it all, I offer plenty of guidance and encouragement so you can walk away with a finished or near finished coat that is a clear expression of your personal quilting style.

One of the benefits of the In-Person Workshop is access to pre-cut pattern templates made from sturdy oak tag paper. These save time during the workshop and let you keep your own set of patterns to use for your next coat!

Virtual Coat Lecture - Live On Zoom

The virtual lecture offers plenty of advantages—including a front-row seat for everyone! You’ll receive all the instruction of the live, in-person lecture, plus bonus guidance on preparing your pattern and fabric pieces for sewing at home.

This online session assumes most participants will purchase the downloadable PDF coat pattern. A printed version can be mailed, though availability may depend on your location.

The lecture runs about one hour, with additional time for questions and discussion at the end.

Quilted Coat Workshop - Live On Zoom

This interactive Zoom class can be held as one 6-hour session or split into two 3-hour sessions, depending on your preference.

We’ll sew the coat together step by step, with clear, close-up instruction so you can follow along with confidence. You’ll get personalized guidance throughout the process—from measurements and sizing, assembling your quilted pieces, to the finishing details.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a finished (or nearly finished) quilted coat that fits you well and reflects your unique quilting style. Students will also have limited time access to the class recording.
